Diamond Wheels are the best for grinding Carbide and Glass.
CBN Wheels are the most suitable product for grinding hard steels. CBN wheels last longer and although higher in price they require fewer replacement wheels.
CBN is Cubic Boron Nitride known as a Superabrasive. As the name suggests Superbrasives are stronger than normal abrasives such as Aluminium Oxide and Silicon Carbide.
CBN is highly recommended to grind:
- Hard Steels
- Steels over 45 RC hardness
- Cast Irons
- Nickel Alloys
CBN is second in hardness to Diamond.
The basic rule is CBN for Steel, Iron and Alloys. Diamond for more delicate items like Glass, Quartz and Ceramics.
